From the first moment I stepped into your kitchen I felt at home. Your home is an extraordinarily sacred, healing place, created passionately and lovingly. Firelit dance, moonlit dance, candlelit dinners, sunlit breakfasts, reassuring animal friends, red earth, flowers. Abundance everywhere.
Oya, thank you for preparing the safest of cocoons into which I could let go and dissolve. For creating and holding our sacred circle with such intimate beauty and fierce tenderness, and for connecting us to the circles that come before and after. For following each thread to its end, illuminating each and every one. For dancing with me in the scary places where demons lurk, guiding me to look them straight in the eye with clear vision. For helping me re-member. For your incredible attention. With fire in your belly and muscles humming, you show the dancer how to hear the undersong. You are midwife, bridge builder, cocoon weaver, pathfinder, artist of life. Your enormous accepting embrace and your intuitive insight are beyond anything I've ever experienced. And you're one hell of a wild sorceress with your kitchen cauldron, delighting all senses. True magic!
Michael, thank you for preparing our fire each morning and evening. From upstairs, I loved waking and listening to you come in and clear the hearth and make the fire anew each day. It settled me. To witness you work steadily, quietly, gently, patiently throughout each day was a pleasure. Your stories and warm humour, your attentiveness, were calming and holding each time we all came together around the table. To see you and Oya together was deeply moving and a great inspiration. Everything that could possibly be needed is generously offered and given.
