January1st 2002 bleak, grey, freezing cold and sleeting, Michael and I set off on a shared Quest. Car loaded, caravan in tow (new experience) and a sticker on the back that read "legalize freedom" we waved good-by to the English coastline. Traveling like gypsy soul's and calling for guidance we danced to the rhythm of destiny, our life a blank canvas and we the artists free to create and free to choose.
Arriving in Southern Spain we stamped the dampness and cold out of our bones and both found in different ways an affinity to the land and the people. I felt my roots spread down into the warm red soil, my heart found a new song of power and passion, and my spirit soared with the eagles.
Knowing on a Quest there's no such thing as chance, we "chanced" on a beautiful piece of cultivated land, 3acres nourished by the Rio Seco with Almond, Olive, Avocado, Orange and Lemons trees.
A little of Spain became part of us .
No water, no electricity, no problem We washed in the river, cooked our food over an Olive wood fire, and read the book entitled "How To Shit In The Woods" an invaluable piece of literature.
Our shared vision of community expanded, we dreamed of a simple rustic, opened planned space, with room to dance and share with other like minded souls. With limited resources ,no tools, no knowledge, no experience, neither one could speak Spanish, and between the pair of us, we couldn't bang a nail in, yet none of these things seemed a problem.
Michael and I have shared our life's path together for nearly 36yers, I honor this handsome, gentle man,a sensitive courage's soul, I'm eternally grateful for the love and support we offer the other and our commitment to our individual and co-created journey.
